Today, there is no denying that the globe stands on the precipice of a pivotal battle against the devastating effects of climate change. The Ja-Ca-Mbé afforestation and reforestation initiative seeks to plant over 40 million Acacia trees across 40,000 hectares of degraded land in the Savannah in an effort to mitigate the effect of carbon emissions and produce carbon credits. One of the main objectives of this initiative is to produce Carbon Credits. Carbon Credits serve as a trading mechanism that allows entitles to compensate for their emissions. Why Acacia Mangium trees?
The Ja-Ca-Mbé forestation project utilises Acacia Mangium trees. These fast-growing trees are native to parts of Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Australia. Over the decades they have begun to be introduced into humid tropical lowlands of Asia, South America, and Africa.

Provisioning Services
Provisioning services are material goods/benefits produced or provided by the ecosystem. Examples of provisioning services provided by forest ecosystems include food like fruits and nuts; wood fiber to use for paper materials; wood fuel as a heating source; medicinal resources like Taxol; and timber to use for building materials.
Regulating Services
Regulating services are benefits provided by ecosystem processes that regulate natural phenomena. Examples of regulating services provided by trees include supporting pollinators with nectar and pollen; purification of air and water; climate regulation; temperature moderation; and erosion and flood control.
Cultural Services
Cultural services are non-material benefits provided by an ecosystem. Examples of cultural services provided by forest ecosystems include recreation and ecotourism ventures; environmental education opportunities; indirect health benefits; a sense of place; aesthetic value; and spiritual connections.
Supporting Services
Supporting services are factors necessary for the production of all other ecosystem services. Supporting services provided by trees include photosynthesis; soil formation; nutrient and water cycling; and habitat and food for wildlife.

Ja.Ca.Mbé follows the Gold Standard requirements to obtain verified certification. Adhering to the Gold Standard means certifying the project for the Global Goals. This enables the project to be designed for maximum positive impact and quantifies outcomes toward climate security and sustainable development most credibly.
