As part of the social activities of the Ja.Ca.Mbé project, the women and youth of Mbé recently joined forces for a collective sweet potato harvest on a 3.5-hectare plot cultivated alongside Acacia trees.
This initiative, carried out with enthusiasm and solidarity, brought together 14 women and 14 young people over two days of work. The outcome was remarkable: 52 bags of 50 kg of tubers were harvested in a positive and convivial atmosphere.
Beyond the food value of this production, the activity highlights the social mission of the Ja.Ca.Mbé project in connection with the plantations: providing access to land, creating job opportunities, strengthening community ties, and fostering the inclusion of local populations in the dynamics of sustainable development.
By directly involving the women and youth of Mbé, the project helps improve food security while emphasizing the central role of communities in the responsible management of resources, particularly access to land. The Ja.Ca.Mbé project is designed to be inclusive, enhancing the value of each replanted hectare by combining trees with agricultural production.
The sweet potato harvest, like other actions undertaken within the framework of Ja.Ca.Mbé, demonstrates the commitment to combine environmental protection, local development, and social benefits for a sustainable future in Congo.
